Been running the Väderstad Rapid for a while now after switching over from older seeders. First thing, the setup with the monitor is easy, even for someone like me who's not big on tech. I can set stuff up while standing right next to the drill. Saves a lot of time, less hassle, and I'm not always calling someone for help. We've got some weird, heavy soils here and this machine just powers through without many hiccups. Fewer folks needed too, which is good cause it's hard to get help these days. Only pain is, if things are crazy dry, you gotta still check your settings cause fields can get tricky. Still, it's been a reliable bit of kit.

My mate has one of these and I've borrowed it a few times. I dig how the seed and fert compartments can be changed up, makes it handy if you're working different rates or just want the extra volume for seed. The machine’s got enough smarts to keep calibration quick. I did find the land wheel sticking out a bit-nearly caught it in the gate once. Not a fan of the sensor that says you’re out of seed even when you’re not totally empty-kind of misleading, especially with small seed. But all in all, the running costs are low, really didn’t have to mess with it much between jobs. Didn’t clog up on wet corners, tines fixed up the finish alright. I care more about running all day without stupid breakdowns and this Rapid did the job.

Used the Rapid 600С last season during one of those super dry springs down south. The seeder actually did alright even when the field prep was... let’s just say rushed and not great. My main thing is, it really handles those patchy, dusty conditions, the kind where you just can’t get the ground perfect. Bonus points for how universal it is - I ran it for cereals, rapeseed, and even threw some sunflowers in, didn’t have to mess around with much. Control is straightforward, the onboard computer is handy to stay close on the seed and fert rates. Still, the price is kinda up there for what you get, but for this kind of flexibility, might be worth it for bigger operations. Wouldn't mind if maintenance bits were a little easier to reach though, I’m always pinched for time.

Had a go with the Rapid during a real dry season and honestly, it impressed me with how even the seed depth stayed even when ground was like concrete. Used to take us way longer to get seeding done, now it's just one or two of us and we can actually cover proper hectares each day. Loading is easier too, less time mucking about with buckets and no big crew crowding around. The only thing is if you're used to really simple old gear, can take a day or two to get used to button-pressing for adjustments but after that, it's fine. Still, sometimes you gotta stop and fine tune more than the older seeders, but it's part of the deal with the new tech.

We moved to a Rapid after years on older seeders (stuff like the SD/"CD" type machines). Night and day on labour. Before, for big area you drag half the yard into the field… tractors, cultivators, a pile of guys. Now loading is fast with the proper loader and you don’t need a crowd just to keep things moving.

In our conditions (dry year, field prep not perfect) we still did around 30-35 ha in daylight and it didn’t turn into drama. I think with better prep you can push more, but I’m not gonna pretend it’s always ideal.

Setup is pretty straightforward. Rear openers adjust quick, nothing exotic. I like machines where you can just get on with it.
